New Year’s Resolutions: 2008 Results & 2009 Additions
My 2008 Resolutions:
1. Pay off my five credit cards Well I never got back to work full time so this didn’t happen unfortunately. However, I did manage to reduce my overall debt from around $2700 to $2400, which isn’t much but it was all I could manage.
2. Design my own Wordpress theme. I never did one here, but at all my fan sites and two of my archive sites, I managed to design my own themes so yay! Completed one!
3. Finish off old fanfictions. Well….I got closer. I wrote a lot over the spring and early summer but I never quite back to my old self after getting sick in July. Daughters got closer though.
4. Become more comfortable with PHP/MySQL. I did and I didn’t. I played around with some of installations I use and even managed to use BellaBiblio to power my presidents fanlisting but I didn’t get very far with this one.
5. Complete transfer to Art Institute. Heh. Well I had a makeover about what I wanted to do with my life so this one became null and void.
2009 Resolutions
1. Be smart about my health. I’m looking at year number five without health insurance and another two years before I can get a full-time job with good benefits at the very least. I need to brush my teeth more than just once a day (and I don’t think doing it before I actually eat anything is very helpful, so I’m aiming at at least twice a day, if not after every meal.) I also want to start walking daily and eating a little better.
2. Keep room organized. I’ve already started this one by cleaning out some book shelves. I’m hoping to clean out my closet and bookshelf tomorrow so I can give each a thorough dusting. And then tackling my desk and underneath my bed on Sunday, so when I pick up my new textbooks next week, I’ve got spaced cleared out for them already.
3. Study at least two hours a day, especially chemistry and math. I’m really worried about this semester — I have to pass chem and math on the first go so I can transfer at the end of the summer, but I always tend to struggle with those.
4. Be smarter about what projects I tackle online. For some reason last summer, I opened five additional sites. Pretty stupid. And then I started converting my fanfiction archive to Wordpress but kind of crapped out on it. I have at least five soap opera performer sites that I’ve been considerin whittling down to just three, but I don’t think I can bring myself to close Claire or Megan. *sighs* I just have to priorititize my time better.
5. Lose the weight I packed on after losing my job at Comcast. I had lost thirty pounds by September 2007, but then I got fired and I got depressed so I gained them right back. Sucks to be me. My major goal is to lose those thirty pounds by the end of the spring semester and then an additional twenty over the summer.
