I made the painful move of posting closed notices on the Megan, Claire and Kim sites. I may keep the Megan and Kim domains only because I also have their fanlistings, but the fan sites are gone. I’m convering Scott and Linze back to regular fan sites.

I just deleted all the videos on my external hard drive for Becky, Claire, Kim and Megan (37 GBs!) I’m trying to make the process complete even though closing all of them was a really hard decision. I even deleted the Becky domain from my account, now that it’s been moved. First time since it’s been open I haven’t had it on my account. *sighs* Oh well.

1. Convert Megan Ward and Rebecca Herbst to WordPress.
2. Add transcripts & press archives to Megan Ward, Rebecca Herbst and Claire Coffee.
3. Finish new layouts for the Pepsi and North & South fanlistings so they can be moved to new collective and dying-dreams.net can be officially off my radar and ready to expire in two months.
4. Finish cleaning out my computer files so that everything is neatly organized in its own folders and that I only have what I actually use.
5. Move the rest of my pictures and videos to the external hard drive.
6. Defragment both external and internal hard drive, run a registry cleaner.
7. Work on fanlistings for John Adams and US Presidents.
8. Attempt really hard not to open a Kimberly McCullough fan site. (Bri, you will not tempt me!)

*sighs* Such issues. At least my last summer class is over Tuesday and I’ll have a month off before next semester starts (as long as the financial office stops screwing with me.)

So prioritizing right? I should do all the computer maintenance first because if I don’t keep my computer running in top shape, then I won’t have to worry about the rest of it anyway. Then I should do anything with a deadline — namely my two history fanlistings and then my last two d-d.net fanlistings so that I’m not forced to renew the domain again (I opened the new collective in 2006, and I’ve already wasted two renewals, grr). After that, I can focus on the fan sites. Right now, most of the updates are gallery related anyway so it’s not a big deal if I put off the WP conversion another week or so.

It makes sense when I type it out like that but working on the fan sites is always more fun than computer maintenance right? *sighs* I’m too good at procrastination.

But it turned out pretty well. I didn’t do all that much to the theme except change colors and images and a few things stylistically. I’m working my way up to my own themes, I promise.

I plan on converting both the Megan Ward and the Rebecca Herbst fan sites to WP eventually, though my Becky site will absolutely be last because it is huge and will take quite some time.

It’s a blog for romance novels — for release dates, fanlistings, and reviews and whatever else I can think of to add to the site. There isn’t a lot there yet, it’s a work in progress but I’ll continue to add entries over the next few days.

I have my new laptop. Still getting everything caught up and reinstalled on the computer. It’s Windows Vista, which is different than XP in so many ways. I don’t have my old copy of Dreamweaver CS3 so I had to reinstall MX 2004. Hopefully I’ll be able to find my CS3 because I got used to that way that one worked. I’ve been working on a few projects, trying to streamline things but everything’s just been getting away from me. There are just not enough hours in the day to fit everything in.

Not long after registering the site, I started working at a very time consuming job and school took up more and more time so I was forced to register dying-dreams.net for another year. And then again in September.

I finally had a chance to move two fanlistings that I had really neglected, especially my Nora Roberts fanlisting, which had had a domain registered for it for about the samen length of time that I had the second collective up and running so to finally move it to its new home was very gratifying.

While I was adding updated book release notes, I thought — wouldn’t it be nice to go to one site for news about the authors’ new releases? I mean, a lot of publishers offer email announcements but I have a lot of different authors who publish for a lot of different companies, so that doesn’t always work for me. So I decided I’m going to start a website exclusively to list authors, their current releases, their upcoming releases and whatnot. Just a thought

By the way, the new fanlistings are: Nora Roberts and Catherine Anderson.

I’m seriously so anxious to get back to work. I need to earn some money so I can get back on track financially and put money away for things I really want. Like more design books. I’m obsessed with them. I think I’m going back out and picking up one of those WordPress books. I keep spending half my time Googling some for some specific code and never finding it.

I really have to get back to the Nora site but I’m beginning to think that WordPress and Enthusiast were not meant to be together and I really hate that I’d have to abandon my ideas for that and the new concept for my Jennifer Cruise fanlisting (which has been woefully neglected since I launched it, I feel awful). I’m going to dig back into that tomorrow. I also still have solve my Codesort problem. I’m thinking of just uploading another installation to each domain, use the database and hope that solves it.

I bit the bullet today and posted for a beta for my little fanfiction project. I tend to write better and faster if I know some sort of feedback is forthcoming and the idea of no one seeing these pages (and I’ve written like 15 pages four days. Might be nothing compared to the fifty I used to churn out, but after a year of nothing, it’s a fabulous thing) drives me nuts so a beta might keep me going.

I also want to dig back into my original novel. I was very gung-ho about it after I was laid off but as usual it fell to the back burner. At the rate I’m going, the only published writing I’m going to do is the letter to Soap Opera Digest that got printed about Lucky and Elizabeth in 1998.

And that would be a shame.

I started a new project on January 1 — part of my New Year’s Resolution to write more fan fiction. I decided to only concentrate on one story at a time and to write something every single day. I pulled out a NaNoWriMo Excel template to keep track of how much I wrote, how often and how far I have left to go. I’ve written three days straight and knocked out an addition 4,000 words for Daughters, which I’m thrilled about. I won’t post anything until February though because I want to send it to someone to look it over.

Tomorrow’s project is to finish cleaning out my job and organize the last corner or so. I have two huge bookcases that I tend to put things on (I throw jewelry on the edge, my deoderant, my allergy medicine, etc.) and I have another bookcase that I used to keep my DVDs on, but now it holds all the miscellaneous paper stuff that I have to weed through. I also need to update my personal files with the bills and whatnot that have come in over the last month and archive my 2007 stuff.

Yay me

I especially like GoogleDocs because it’s a lovely idea to be able to share my documents and spreadsheets with others, especially if I’m collaborating on a fanfiction (though I’ve only attempted this once or twice and I suck at it) and even better, it would be great to be able to take certain documents anywhere to be able to work on them instead of having to rely on my forums, which is what I’ve been doing this last year. I just wish it supported Microsoft Office 2007 (or at least Excel 2007).

WebAccelerator is also fabulous. Once it’s installed, it speeds up your site and you can even find out how much time you’ve saved by a little monitor on the browser. After three hours, I’ve saved 5.4 minutes. I know that’s not a lot but every less second something takes me the more time I have for myself later. It adds up

I’m finally getting a chance to catch up on my laundry and clean out my closet. I had to wait a week for my brother to finish his. He’s such a pain. I would rather have done this earlier in the week since I have a job interview tomorrow and I didn’t feel like doing this today but you have to do what you have to so things get done. I’m going to be doing that and working on my genealogy blog. I’m taking a break from my Nora Roberts site because the combination of Enthusiast and WordPress is making my head hurt.

I spent the first hour of the new year arguing with WordPress and Enthusiast. I’ve finally started to work on the Nora Roberts fan site and using WordPress (I’m so obsessed with it, it’s sad) seemed like the best way to create the site quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. But of course, it’s never that easy. I had to do some creative work with Enthusiast, rename a function that I thought was supposed to fixed in the last upgrade, but eh. Enth is freaking fabulous otherwise, I’ll take what I can get.

It just struck me how thoroughly people have to design these scripts. In the three years I’ve been using Enthusiast, this was the first real script I’d had so I think that’s great kudos to Angela for designing it. I don’t know where I’d be without it.

I was watching another episode of 48 Hours Mystery on the Discovery Times Channel and I realized that I’ve got some weird television habits. My favorite channels are Discovery Times, History Channel, International History, and A&E. I love to watch all the true crime  shows (and read the books) — and one of my absolute top ten television favorites is HBO’s Oz. Do you think that makes me just a bit twisted?

Anyway, I’m off to finagle with WordPress a little more than head to bed. Happy New Year again
